weekly weigh-in

Wow, I am not very good at reporting in with my weigh-ins! So let's see:
Friday, June 17th - I was down 2.2 lbs. I worked hard that week and I was super-proud!
Friday, June 24th - no change, but I went to a homeschool conference last weekend and I celebrated Father's day with Prince Charming with food (I need to work on that!) So no change over the course of the week is pretty awesome and speaks to how I got right back on the wagon again.

weekly weigh-in

I am down 2.2 lbs this week. I am thrilled to be going in the right direction!

I decided that the first thing I am going to do when we get our financial situation fixed from this disastrous move is join a gym. When the doctor told me about my high cholesterol, he recommended I join one. There is one down the road that has great prices and I love the idea of going out and doing something that is just for myself for just a little while during the day the location is great.

weekly weigh-in

I know this hasn't actually been weekly lately. With the move and all the junk food I have been eating, I admit I was hiding from the scales. Last week I did weigh in and in the seven weeks I hadn't weighed, I gained 8.8 lbs. Not good, but actually less than I had expected all things considered. But this week, I lost 2.4 lbs of it. I am very proud of that. I am back on track and doing the best I can. It can only get easier as Prince Charming starts his new job and our finances get better. It is hard cooking two meals a day, but I have decided I am worth it. My health is worth it. I take care of my family and I need to take care of me to do it.

Here's doing this right!

I am back and back on the bandwagon. It will be as best I can for a while, but I need to get back to being healthy again. I have been sick for weeks and weeks. My stomach is acting up and I have been gaining weight like crazy. I have been in a downward spiral and I need to get myself back on track. So, even though we are not back on budget yet, I went out and bought just a couple of things for me. I am back to low fat, healthy, whole grain (and of course vegan) foods. I need this. I am up 7.6 lbs and I feel icky. I don't think it is a coincidence that I have been eating poorly for about the same amount of time I have been sick.

On a sidenote, I am so happy to be vegan here! There are so many wonderful, yummy vegan foods here. Soy Creamer for my coffee, Vegan Nacho cheeses, and all sorts of other wonderful things.

weekly weigh-in

Well, I am down 1.6 lbs this week. I am very happy with that loss considering the weeks I have had previously. This way of eating seems to be working for me. It is a healthy way of feeling satisfied and I am loving some of the meals I have come up with. Last night I had rice with corn, mushrooms and tomatoes and beans and zucchini and some spices and it was really yummy and satisfying.

Thoughts

I have been struggling. Mostly because I am trying to balance my diet with an extremely tight budget and living in a small town that has very limited variety available. But I have decided that I need to get back to basics. I need to quit trying to figure out new ways of doing this and just cut it back to it's simplest form and what worked for me. And basically that was:

- no added fat
- no sugar (sugar gives me cravings and makes me overeat)
- no meat or animal products.

That's it. As simple as that. I can do that. So, this morning I posted all the recipes I had planned on posting that didn't fit into that mold. I need to get back at this as best I can. It is good for me, it makes me feel healthier and I deserve to feel good and lose weight.

As for my weigh-in this week, I am pretending not to notice that being sick has made me overeat like crazy and that I am actually up five pounds this week, while I cough and hack and wheeze myself silly.

weekly weigh-in

I lost 1.4 lbs this week. That is not bad considering I decided to relax and just not stress so much about my diet for a while. I am just trying to do my best and not to get so worked up about it. I guess a relaxed me does okay too.

weekly weigh-in

I stayed the same this week. Considering that this week was Princess Belle's birthday and I ate ENTIREDLY too much I will take it.

weekly weigh-in

I had a great weigh-in today! I lost 3.4 lbs this week. I am sure all the snow shoveling had something to do with it, but I am thrilled. I am down 45.2 lbs since July 23!

weekly weigh-in

Well, I had my weigh-in this morning and it was a lovely surprise. I was convinced I wasn't going to lose this week. I was hoping to just break even and have a better week next week. I had been working so hard, but every time I stopped working, I was STARVING and I ate every vegan yummy thing I could find. Well, I guess the working burned off the extra calories I was eating and I actually lost 1.8 lbs!! I weigh less now than I did when I was in college! It is a good day. Here's to a good week next week.

weekly weigh-in

weekly weigh-in

I am down One pound this week. Considering the time of the month, I am thrilled with that! I love that I have been eating lots of yummy vegan foods. I am always full. I never sit around feeling deprived and hungry. I even made myself a yummy vegan dinner when Prince Charming and the kids had a pizza and I didn't feel deprived.

I am thinking about Christmas dinner and what vegan goodness I can add to it to make my dinner feel special. You know what they say . . . Failure to plan is planning to fail.

weekly weigh-in

I know I have been bad about weighing in the last few hectic weeks, but I am here and settled and I am back to weighing in again.

I am down .2 lbs. This isn't bad considering how I was behaving for a while. But I am eating healthy, and feeling good right now.

Detox

I am detoxing myself. I am going to get healthy. I need to be at my best for my girls and if it takes a few days of discomfort, I will do this. I am giving up coffee and I am going vegan (instead of vegetarian). I have been collecting recipes to make this easier for myself. And after I get the house organized from this move, I will start using the treadmill that my neighbour has given me free use of.

Reality Bites (and it sags too)

I have been off the wagon for this move. I just couldn't manage the budget and the time and for days I lived on Halloween goodies and coffee. So, while I haven't gained weight, I haven't lost either. I have been feeling bad about that but there it is.

Then I settled into the house and decided to luxuriate in the lovely big bath in the main bathroom with the lovely large mirror. Now, over the years, mirrors have evaporated in my house in direct proportion to my weight going up. I didn't want to see the damage I was doing.

As I have lost weight, I felt better about myself. I went from only extra large maternity clothes fitting, to size 24 stretchy clothes fitting, to size 15 jeans fitting. I was feeling pretty good about my bad old self. Then I got my bath. I got undressed, looked into the mirror and was shocked. On top of the not to bad legs, was the most hideous, gelatinous, cellulite riddled, saggy mess I have ever seen. I was horrified. I am still horrified. It was awful to see. I was happy in my misguided, delusion that I was looking pretty good in my new skinny jeans. I was feeling good about how I looked when I saw a man flirt with me at the coffee shop. But with this quick glance (after all who wants to stare at that reality for longer than that??) I fell thud on my large saggy but in the world absolute truth.

I can only hope that I can get to the weight I am aiming for and that when I get there, I look better than I do now.
