GFCF Vegetarian Gravy

Ingredients:
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/3 cup chopped onion
  • 5 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup gfcf all-purpose flour (or appropriate amount of cornstarch)
  • 4 teaspoons nutritional yeast
  • 4 tablespoons gluten free soy sauce
  • 2 cups gluten free vegetable broth
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried sage
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
Directions:
  1. Heat oil in a medium saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Saute onion and garlic until soft and translucent, about 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in flour, nutritional yeast, and soy sauce to form a smooth paste.
  4. Gradually whisk in the broth.
  5. Season with sage, salt, and pepper.
  6. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat, and simmer, stirring constantly, for 8 to 10 minutes, or until thickened.
